KingPing Yeung / 楊健平

Yeung received the Cecil Leong Scholarship in 2018 to pursue the Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in gaohu and erhu receiving the training under Professor Yu Qiwei and Zhang Chongxue.

Yeung began learning huqin under Wu Siuhin. He came first in the Chinese Instrumental Class – Advanced for erhu Solo at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival at the age of 12. And passed the performance diploma of the Central Conservatory of Music. He was invited thrice to perform with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra as a soloist.

Other than playing the huqin, Yeung is also an accompaniment leader of Cantonese Opera. He learned Cantonese opera accompaniment under Tsang Kinman from 12, and started playing the role of ensemble leader when he was 14 as one of the youngest ensemble leaders in Hong Kong. He was invited by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China to perform in Beijing.

Yeung formed a Cantonese music band “TroVessional” with four young musicians, and won the gold award in the Nanyang International Music Competition (ensemble division). In 2021, the band held the concert “A Day with Cantonese Music”, Yeung himself played the huqin, violin, qinqin (lute), and also wrote and sang a piece of Namyaam (Cantonese narrative singing).

楊健平,於香港演藝學院就讀音樂學士課程,獲梁思豪獎學金,師隨余其偉及張重雪,雙主修高胡及二胡。自幼師從胡兆軒學習胡琴,十二歲獲校際音樂節二胡深造組冠軍,後考獲中央音樂學院二胡演奏級。曾三次與香港中樂團合作演出,擔任胡琴獨奏。亦師隨曾健文學習拍和(粵劇伴奏),十四歲開始擔任頭架(粵劇音樂領導),是香港最年輕的頭架之一。曾以頭架身分獲國家文化部邀請到北京參加「全國戲曲展演」。

近年聯同四名年青演奏家創立粵樂小組「伍人粵 Band」,任團内胡琴手,曾於南洋國際音樂大賽重奏與小合奏專業組獲金獎,又於 2021 年舉辦專場音樂會「伍粵天」,一人包辦胡琴、小提琴、秦琴、南音撰詞及演唱。
